This relatively new cuvée comes from a handful of Chardonnay plantings in the heart of the commune of Pouilly dating back to the early 1950s, when the family first settled in the area. These soils of loamy clay-limestone punctuated by flint and quartz produce a well-balanced, deeply mineral-driven wine—one whose stony character Cheveau foregrounds through the use of larger 600-liter oak casks rather than smaller and more oak-forward 228-liter barrels.
